Background

Yes we can end TBStop TB Partnership (STBP) supports country-level partnership platforms aimed at strengthening TB prevention, diagnosis and care in countries in close collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Control Programmes (NTPs) towards achieving the targets of the Global Plan to End TB. Working as coalitions, country platforms are voluntary alliances between organizations drawn from the public and private/business sectors, civil society, journalists, celebrities, and others who commit to working collaboratively on TB prevention and care.
These country platforms have made significant achievements through advocacy, coordination, and partnership initiatives and efforts. The platforms have engaged various stakeholders involved in TB prevention and care at the national and sub-national levels, including the mobilization of high-level government officials, to achieve commitments to end TB by 2030. Centered around UNHLM commitments, general advocacy work, and domestic resource mobilization there is a need to create a body of knowledge among partners, ensure joint collaborative works, and safeguard partner's engagement and motivation. Additionally, there is a need to share expertise among partners and seek out innovative solutions to end TB. To this end, there is a necessity to establish a Community of Practice (COP) platform coordinated by the STBP secretariat to bring together all STBP platforms to create a common ground to inspire one another and exchange knowledge.

Purpose

StopTB partnership

The main purpose of the COP will be to provide a collaborative framework for STBP platforms to work together to identify and leverage best practices and standards. This COP will be a platform to host joint activities, discussions, problem-solving opportunities, information sharing, and for relationship building. The COP will leverage the expertise of the partners and be a platform to share resources and ideas. This COP will further promote a South-South knowledge exchange through showcasing initiatives and achievements.

Objectives

The objectives of the COP are:

  • Educate the partners by collecting and sharing information related to questions and issues around TB response and TB efforts at the country, regional, and global levels.
  • Promote the standardization of practice and shared understanding of the Global Plan to End TB: 2023-2030 and UNHLM on TB targets, commitments and key asks among the partners.
  • Improve knowledge and information sharing especially of new ideas, innovations, best practices, and other resources.
  • Support interactions and collaboration among members especially on standard events that need to send out uniform information to the TB-affected communities as advocates for change.
  • Strengthen STBP’s awareness-raising activities through the sharing of publications especially during public and advocacy campaigns.
  • Build capacities and organizational development of each of these platforms and identify gaps where the STBP Secretariat can offer support to building capacities of the country platforms.
  • Integrate partnerships to use their diverse knowledge for real change in their own work and to position Stop TB Partnership efforts to end TB, to align and jointly elevate the visibility of TB.
